While on a trip to Tokyo, graphic design director Liam Wong imagined the city as if it were the setting of a glorious cyberpunk tale.
His series, entitled ‘Neo Tokyo’, focuses on neon signs and lanterns illuminating dark alleys and quiet streets. Giant billboards lighting busy intersections in the pouring rain feature, as does Spider-Man – of all people – posing in cyberpunk fashion.
It’s so romantic, in a dystopian sort of way – it’s reminiscent of Blade Runner.
Wong’s surreal compositions bring out a stunning contrast between light and dark, and the old and the new, making the bustling metropolis more futuristic than it already is.
