Ethereal photos of the derelict telegraph poles on New Zealand’s North Island

Somewhere in the rain soaked hills of Central North Island, New Zealand, the mist cleared and I drove through a multitude of valleys littered with abandoned or semi-abandoned telegraph poles.
Some of them seemingly cut adrift from their kin – their wires either severed or corroded and sitting in a tangled pile at the base of the pole. Others matted in thick moss, or about to be swallowed by overgrown trees and hedges, but always standing tall and stoic.
