Just a short distance from Manhattan lies North Brother Island, nestled between the Bronx and Rikers Island. This place was used as a quarantine centre in 1885 for smallpox and typhoid, then as a rehabilitation centre in the ’50s, but has been abandoned since 1963. But that doesn’t mean people don’t visit.
While kayaking from New York to Connecticut, Imgur user ‘BallSackFace‘ (sorry about the name!) decided to stop in on North Brother Island to look around.
The adventurous duo spent three house exploring the island, taking photos of their finds.
