In her latest series, entitled ‘Riot of Orchids’, artist Lisa King explores 1980s pink, retro pop-culture with large-scale oil paintings.
The Adelaide-based painter moved from graphic design to illustration and mural work back in 2012. Since then, she’s been in multiple group shows, and her work has been called “colorfully angelic yet seemingly dark”.
King’s new series, created over six months in her studio, is an oil exploration of vibrant, figurative works that “sit in a world of unusual and unconventional”.
She’ll have her first solo show at No Vacancy Gallery in Melbourne from April 18-24. Be sure to check it out.
