Octopus does real-life prison break by escaping from an aquarium

A clever octopus managed to escape the clutches of the New Zealand National Aquarium by breaking out of his tank and jumping back into the ocean.
Inky the Octopus did a daring nighttime escape after a bunch of maintenance workers left the lid of his enclosure slightly open. He crawled out of there and slithered towards a six-inch-wide drain, squeezing himself to freedom.
In an interview with Radio New Zealand, aquarium manager Rob Yarrall said that octopi can stretch their bodies, allowing them to fit through tight spaces.
“He managed to make his way to one of the drain holes that go back to the ocean and off he went — didn’t even leave us a message,” he said.
