In 2009, a Norwegian man bought $27 worth of Bitcoin and promptly forgot about it. Four years later, the guy remembered his investment and netted a cool $886,000.
Kristoffer Koch was writing a thesis paper about encryption when he decided to invest in Bitcoins with $27. He forgot about the entire thing, until the crypto-currency got widespread media coverage.
Fortunately for him, he remembered his password. Upon opening his encrypted wallet, he received a pleasant surprise: his money had ballooned to $886,000.
