If Disney Princesses were paintings from the Renaissance

The internet’s obsession with reimagining Disney princesses got old (and ridiculous) quick. But a Thai designer has created a series that might just bring a… renaissance to the genre.

Bangkok-based graphic designer Thynyamon Charoensuttikul put together her love for Disney and Renaissance art by depicting characters like Mulan, Jasmine and Pocahontas in classical portraiture.

Each ‘painting’ includes visual elements common in artworks made during the period, from realistic facial features, to flattering poses, to even the canvas’ aging texture.

Thunyamon came up with the series while she was still studying at the King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. You can see more of her work here.
