In Queensland, Australia, it’s illegal to own a rabbit. So when the cops caught someone keeping a bunny at home, the owners had a rock-solid alibi: it was a guinea pig.
Officers discovered the hare while they were investigating the address for an incident involving the owners. The animal was found in a cage inside a caravan, and the owners gave the worst excuse in the history of excuses.
‘Somebunny tried unsuccessfully to convince Springwood Police that this little guy was actually a guinea pig’, said Queensland police.
The rabbit did not go to jail to do years of hard labor. Instead, it was sent to a sanctuary in New South Wales.
