In Iran, a local photographer goes around capturing a part of the country that we rarely see in the media: its ceilings.
Being one of the oldest civilisations in the world, Iran boasts of a glorious architectural history. Ancient temples and buildings dot its landscape, from the 900-year-old Jameh Mosque in Isfahan to the gold-covered Hazrat Masoumeh Mosque in Qom.
An Instagram account run by photographer ‘M1rasoulifard’ documents the ornate ceilings in these structures. From complex patterns to eye-catching mosaics to the plethora of geometric shapes, these adornments will have you looking up for hours and hours.
You can see more of ‘M1rasoulifard’ and his photography over in Instagram.
