The sweltering summer heat and recent forest fires in Adelaide have forced thirsty koalas to find refreshments any way they can. That includes flagging down cyclists.
Nick Lothian was biking through Adelaide Hills when he saw a koala asking help from passing cyclists. The group obliged, but before they could even get off their bikes, the dehydrated marsupial climbed on and started chugging from the water bottle.
According to Lothian, the koala was still drinking 30 minutes later, on his way back. The animal later spent the night at Adelaide Animal Hospital, where it received an all-you-can drink water buffet.
