Remember the Friends episode where Rachel and Chandler (and Joey) end up eating cheesecake off the floor? Well, imagine for a minute the foods you’d eat off the floor if you loved them enough.

Perhaps a cookie? A candy bar? Maybe a sandwich? There’d be at least a small list of foods you’d eat off the floor… because of that five-second rule.

You know the one. The five-second rule states that food dropped on the ground will not be contaminated with bacteria if you pick it up within five seconds.

Well, thanks to science, we now know that the five-second rule is kinda, sorta true.

A dry piece of food should be okay when dropped onto a dry floor. But when moisture is involved? Shudder.
